Supermodel Naomi Campbell has blasted the Recording Academy after her ally Wizkid lost the Best Global Performance award to Arooj Aftab.

Taking it to her Instagram the British singer and actress criticized the academy for turning a deaf year to what was going on in the universe.

Standing by Wizkid who lost two Grammy nominations at the 64th Grammy awards, the new mom wrote,

"To my brother @wizkidayo,#Madeinlagos was beyond a phenomenal album!! WINNER WITHOUT DOUBT!!

You are the KING of people that has brought AFROBEATS mainstream, that means more than any academy of any sort.

@recordingacademy.Once again you choose to be tone-deaf to what is going in the universe"

According to her, she felt like there was miscategorization and neglectful categorization of the Afrobeat music genre.

Adding that the academy should get up to speed and recognize Afro-beats as a music genre in the awards.

"Changing the world to global is not Enough.m Get up to speed on the state of all popular music and include Afrobeats Artist of the Year.

Song of the Year, Album of the year, and all the subcategories that this genre so deserves -just as another respected and recognized music genre.

#Madeinlagos Album and song Essence was clearly in the wrong category and how can you ignore the song essence.

The song by Wizkid and Terms that was covered and remixed by Justin Beiber you seem to isolate under global when it should have been in the song of the year category.''

Adding

"Give Afrobeats the representation it deserves. You are ignoring 1.3 billion people it will only make us Rise!!

Afrobeats in our hearts Africa beats to the world." she wrote

The post sparked mixed reactions some agreeing with her while some felt like she was dismissing Angelique Kidjo's win.

Angelique Kidjo is a Beninese singer who won the 2022 Grammys title as the Best global Music Album.
