In the African setting, a woman is expected to pick her husband's name.

But some celebrities have decided to stick with their maiden names.

Most do so because their maiden name is what fans identify them with. Such celebs include;

Teacher Wanjiku

The celebrated comedienne is married to Victor Ber but she chose to retain her maiden name.

It is the name her fans have identified her with since she joined Churchill show.

Yvonne Okwara

The soft-spoken TV personality is married to Andrew Matole.

Yvonne however does not use his name, she chose to stick by her old name. The couple tied the knot in 2014.

Anita Nderu

Anita Nderu is also among celebrities who have chosen to retain their maiden names despite being married.

The content creator tied the knot to her husband Barrett Raftery in September 2021.

Chiki Kuruka

Chiki is wife to Bien Barasa of the famous boys band Sauti Sol.

Despite the couple being married for a couple of years, Chiki still maintained her maiden name.

This is because she is also a brand by her own rights.

Size 8 Reborn

The celebrated gospel artiste is married to DJ Mo whose real name is Samuel Muraya.

But she has chose to stick by her alias which she had used since her secular days.

Kambua

Ex Citizen TV host Kambua Manundu is married to Jackson Mathu.

Although Kambua doesn't use her dad's name, she has neither picked her husband's name.

Although it is not a must for someone to pick up their husband's name for celebrities one must be intentional as it can make you miss out on getting followers.

This is because some fans will still search you with your old name not knowing you have changed it.

So men, keep in mind that a woman not picking up your name does not make you stop being her husband.
