Kenyan-based singer/songwriter Alisha Popat has shown again her resilience and passion for music.

After falling into some hard times during the pandemic and looking for new opportunities, she reallocated to Berlin, Germany with her partner Hannes Eckmayr last year November.

After just three months in a new country, she applied for the Voice Of Germany with no expectations to get selected.

After she got notified that she would be considered for the audition process, she had to learn enough spoken German to get her through. Months of auditions and German lessons lapsed until she finally got a surprise call from friend and world-renowned violinist Lindsey Stirling, that she made it into the Blind auditions.

Alisha and Lindsey collaborated on a song in 2012, a cover of 'We found Love' that is now at a staggering 64 Million views on YouTube.

'The Voice' show is unique from most other singing competitions as the judges do not get to physically see the talents until and only if they 'buzz' for them.

The four judges sit on chairs facing away as the talents perform. If the judges like their voices, they then turn their chairs offering them a place in their team.

Alisha Popat sang a powerful and emotional rendition of Chris Isaak's 'Wicked Game' and had ALL FOUR judges turn.

This is indeed a rare outcome and a proud achievement for any talent on that platform. She mentioned proudly on stage in German that she recently moved to Berlin but actually comes from Kenya, East Africa.

The judges had great comments for her. Nico Santos said that she has a special magic in her voice that takes people on a journey.

He said that it took him a while to turn as some notes were not delivered with enough confidence to really take him away.

Mark Foster said that it was a powerful rendition of the song and that she made an old song new. He was also incredibly impressed with her level of German after such a short period of time.

Sahra Connor said it was an incredible performance and she was so curious to see who was behind that voice.

Johannes Oerding said that Alisha has fairy dust in her voice and if it were up to him, he would have her sing with only one instrument.

In a special turn of events, German singer, Johannes Oerding who wanted to convince Alisha to join his team, invited her to sit in his chair while he sang his own rendition of the same song.

It was in Alisha's words the most powerful rendition of the song she has ever heard. After he sang for her, it was a no-brainer for her to join his team.

7 can learn so much from such an established and talented musician. I can't wait to take this journey further with Johannes and progress as a musician.

The next step of the competition is the pre-battle and then the official 'battle' round on The Voice stage. Alisha will be paired with various other artists in her group to compete for a spot on the big 'battle' Voice stage that resembles a boxing ring.

If she wins that round, she will then go onto the live shows.
