Jamaican megastar Etana will be performing at the Pamoja Festival on October 30, 2021, at the Ngong Racecourse Nairobi.
Apart from Etana other Kenyan stars will be in attendance, they are Wyre and Gravitti Band.
Etana has promised that she will be performing singles from her new album for the first time ever, in Nairobi.
In an exclusive interview with Mpasho’s Kalondu Musyimi, Etana explained why she did her own version of the song Malaika, a Kenyan original done by the legendary Fadhili Williams.
She said, "I know the message in Malaika is about a man not having enough to marry the woman of his dreams..."
But she says the iconic jam means a little bit more to her.
"A lot of us, not just Africa and a lot of generations had to start from the bottom having nothing. A woman or even a man starting from nothing and accomplishing a whole lot is a big deal."
Etana also says in the interview that she sees so much of Kenya in Jamaica. I guess it would only be fair to then tell her, ‘Welcome home. Karibu, Etana'.
