The death of a class seven pupil who is suspected to have killed himself in Rachuonyo North East Sub County, Homa Bay County has left many in shock.

His body was found in a bush after a suspected suicide.

The boy apparently used a rope from the dead goat to hang himself, police said.

Police have launched investigations into the incident where the 12-year-old boy identified as Felix Odhiambo Okech allegedly committed suicide in a bush away from their home on Saturday, December 17.

The pupil of Dudi Primary School is reported to have left home to untie their goats from the grazing field but went missing until late in the evening when his lifeless body was found dangling from the top of the tree.

The minor’s father Michael Okech, said he might have hanged himself after he found one goat dead in the grazing field under an unclear circumstance.

He said that out of fear, the boy took a rope from the dead goat and used it to hang himself.

Rachuonyo East Sub-County Police Commander Justus Kucha said police have not established the motive behind the incident.

The body was moved to Rachuonyo South Sub County Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Other reasons are bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
