An undercover team of detectives has arrested suspects linked to robbery cases that have rocked Embu county.

The three suspects were arrested after a four-day operation by the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau in a bid to end escalating crime cases in the county.

James Murathi alias Jimcarter 39, Andrew Murathi alias Waaxy, 44, and Charles Mwaniki alias Bush, 37, were arrested, Monday evening and taken to Siakago police station for interrogation.

In August this year, the suspects allegedly broke into a house in Ishiara, Mbeere North subcounty and terrorised occupants before stealing assorted household goods, an unspecified amount of cash and the victim’s motor vehicle.

This is after the suspects disconnected the home’s CCTV cameras  to avoid being unmasked.

Detectives have since recovered the vehicle and handed it back to the owner.

In October, the same suspects allegedly armed with machetes, axes and other crude weapons attacked a homestead in Kanyuambora and stole at least to Sh30,000 and 6 mobile phones.

The suspects are being interrogated before being arraigned in court to answer to charges of robbery with violence.
