A truck that was allegedly carrying relief food overturned yesterday along Thika Road, Githurai area.

After the accident, residents and traders around Githurai resorted to looting the rice and beans that were on the truck.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, some motorists who were on transit were seen stopping to participate in the looting spree.

Some passengers and Matatu crew on PSV vehicles also alighted to get their share of the goods.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with netizens rebuking the perpetrators of the act.

@Tim Theuri - "We are an incorrigible lot. We just mete out a different type of assault every day."

@ Jacob - "Who told Kenyans that goods seizes to belong to the owner after an accident? What's the difference between these thugs and the ones who attacked that lady along forest road?"

@ Abere - "Fellow Kenyans Who Stole From Fallen Private Trailer Along Thika Githurai, Yes That Rice Is Written G.O.K., But We Ought To Know It Was Destined To Somewhere, Not Githurai Roysambu."

@Opiyo - "This is very unfortunate! For how long will the rice last though? Where is our security?...somebody's business jeopardized due to greed."
