• "I was 7 months pregnant, when a boda guy hit my car from behind along Thika road, in less than a minute I had over 50 Boda guys surrounding my car."
Conversations on the misconduct from a section of Boda Boda riders have been topping social media trends in Kenya.
This is after a video of Boda Boda operators molesting a female motorist along Forest Road, emerged.
A lady named Maryann Wangari has shared how she once fell victim to rowdy Boda Boda riders in 2017.
"I was 7 months pregnant, when a boda guy hit my car from behind along Thika road, in less than a minute I had over 50 Boda guys surrounding my car, they blocked me, I couldn't move. This was at 6:45 ish jioni. I stepped out of my car, but before I could even check what had happened, the guys started shouting at me, one tried to get in my car, that's when I realized it was not safe, went back in the car at this point they are pulling me back," she recalled.
After taking cover in her car, she attempted to lock the windows but could not since the riders were hanging on them.
"I was saved by the Biker (not a boda guy), he then wrote me a note on his phone and displayed it on my window, asking me to lock the car and not lower the windows. I was just there crying helplessly, shocked, and not even sure what to do," Wangari shared.
Amid the melee, the vehicle's rear lights were stolen. After calling 911, she was asked to flee the scene.
"I drove off crying, numb, and parked at the shell on exit 5 where I was rescued. This happened in 2018, to watch that video today triggered so much anger and pain for that lady, we really are not safe out here."
