At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in March last year, the Kenya government adopted strict measures to counter the spread of the Covid-19 virus, this led to an economic strain that caused mental stress in families as means of live hoods were disrupted.

According to a police crime report, murder is still one of the leading crimes committed in Kenya every year, second only to carjacking and puts Kenya at position 10 on the list of countries with the highest crime rates in the world.
