Police are investigating an incident in which a woman died by suicide inside a hostel in Alsops area, Nairobi.
It is not clear what triggered the move by the woman in her early twenties.
The body was discovered yesterday. Police say they were called and informed of the incident hours after it had happened.
The woman is said to have been a student at a local college. The body was picked up from the scene and taken to the mortuary.
But the woman’s family is asking questions as to why they were not informed of the death in time and even be called to the scene before the body was moved.
Police say a postmortem is planned on the body as part of investigations into the death.
However, the mother of the woman claims that there is foul play in this matter.
A source told Mpasho, "She finds it fishy that police would not call her at the scene of the murder, but instead called her way later and she has doubts about the suicide claim."
Adding, "She thinks there is more to the circumstances that led to her daughter's death based on the time difference within which she received the news and why they would take a whole day without informing her. She feels like the evidence is being concealed."
