Police are investigating the shooting dead of a 19-year-old man in the Kiamaiko area, Huruma during an operation to get narcotics peddlers last evening.
The victim was rushed to hospital in serious condition before succumbing after being shot in the stomach by a bullet believed to have been fired by police.
Police had come under attack as they raided a bhang den prompting the shooting.
The killing prompted a protest in the area with some attacking a police station.
Police fired to the air to scare the protesters in a confrontation that lasted more than an hour.
A postmortem is planned on the body this morning to establish the cause of the death.
