A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by police in Makindu Sub-county for allegedly killing his grandmother aged 67 Saturday night.

The lifeless body of Milkah Mwendo was discovered by her husband Joseph Munguti Nthungu at 2.00pm in Usungu Village in Kiboko area.

According to the preliminary police report, the boy identified as Stephen Munguti Mutua allegedly admitted having entered the house and strangled the woman using a table cloth.

The boy who is a student at Nthia Secondary School is on suspension over a disciplinary case.

"The suspect is being held at Makindu Police Station where he is helping with investigations. The motive of the killing is not yet known," said Makueni County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Ole Naipeyan while speaking to KNA Sunday.

The body of the deceased was taken to Makindu Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting autopsy.
