Police in Busia have recovered a decomposing body at Bugengi location.

Confirming the incident, Busia Deputy County Commissioner Kipchumba Rutto said that the body which is believed to be of a female was recovered by Boniface Ochola on Thursday morning in Lwero Village within Bugengi Sub Location.

“Ochola reported that on Wednesday night, he heard his dogs barking and on coming out he found one of the dogs eating a human hand,” Rutto said.

Rutto added that Ochola reported the matter to both the area chief and police officers who later combed the area and unearthed other parts of the body.

“The body parts were packaged in a sack and we believe it belongs to a female gender because the fingernails had nail polish,” he said.

He further said that the remains were moved to Busia County Referral Hospital Mortuary as the DCI continues with investigations.

“I want to urge local residents to volunteer information that may lead to positive identification of the recovered body part by reporting to area chief or any nearby police station,” he said, adding no report of any missing person has been received by the local administration and security team.
