Felix Orinda aka DJ Evolve has suffered quadriplegia. The disc jockey, who was shot in the neck by Babu Owino, is currently hospitalized at Nairobi Hospital's ICU wing with his health said to be deteriorating.

Speaking to K24, John Orinda, the deejay's father said,

He is still in a critical condition and he has never spoken for the last four days but we hope for the best.

Adding,

the bullet went through the DJ's spinal cord.

John also thanked the controversial Embakasi MP, who was recently released on bail for paying his son's hospital bill of Sh800,000.

I really appreciate Mr Owino for taking my son to Nairobi Hospital, could it have been another medical facility my son could be dead,' he said.

Well, quadriplegia also known as Tetraplegia, is paralysis caused by illness or injury that results in the partial or total loss of use of all four limbs and torso [ paralysis of the body from the shoulders down]

The paralysis is a result of damage to the spinal cord which prevents messages from the brain from being sent to the rest of the body.

Symptoms include

limp muscles that lack firmness (flaccid quadriparesis)

unusual stiffness or tightness of the muscles (spastic quadriplegia)

lack of motor control.

inability to walk.

loss of bladder control.

depressed reflexes.

According to medical experts, the main cause of quadriplegia is trauma and up to 90% of spinal cord injury cases are due to trauma.
