The #menconference2019 hashtag has been trending for the past couple of days. Well, there is no conference and rather the hashtag was started as a joke to counter the Valentine's Day celebrations and the pressure that goes with it.

Men, whose wallets are usually burnt every February 14, decided to find a way to avoid spending tonnes of money on their women by making the excuse they were attending a 'serious' men's conference in the run up to lovers' day.

Memes were made about the day and it looks like our politicians have joined the fray in joking about the men's conference.

In a tweet on Friday, Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka said,

While it may be mistaken that we are attending the #MenConference2019...For avoidance of doubt, let it be known that we are at the two-day @Senate_KE Leadership Retreat. Hear ye, Hear ye!
