A woman, 30, yesterday was charged in a magistrate’s court with creating disturbance by threatening to stab a neighbour for “eyeing her husband”.

Roselyne Ndung’u allegedly threatened maize seller Rose Wayua with a knife on July 15 at Fuata Nyayo estate in Industrial Area, Nairobi.

According to the prosecution, Ndung’u demanded to know why Wayua gave her husband free maize. Wayua’s basket of boiled maize fell during the scuffle.

Police said Ndung’u went to her house, picked a knife and threatened to stab Wayua.

She told Wayua to stop giving her husband free maize. Neighbours calmed the situation. Wayua reported the matter and Ndung’u was arrested.

She denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji and was released on Sh10,000 bail. The case will be mentioned on August 7.
