An NTV journalist was recently reunited with her family after surviving a kidnap attempt in Kampala, Uganda.

According to reports, Gertrude Uwitware, who had gone missing on Saturday afternoon, was found dumped in Kira Division - 12 hours after she had been reported missing.

The sultry journalist was having lunch along Nile Avenue in Kampala when she was picked up by unknown people who were driving a saloon car.

It is further reported that Uwitware was blindfolded before being forced into the car by the abductors, one woman and a man who had a pistol.

However, her kidnappers set her free on Saturday night and it is still unclear what their real intentions were.

The incident was confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima who promised to investigate the kidnapping and bring the culprits to book.

He also said that Uwitware had earlier reported a case of threatening violence at Central Police station (CPS) Kampala, adding that they would put the threats and kidnap together.
