Shix Kapienga has opened up about taking up a role in an award winning film. The issue is that the film was so risque that he forewarned his mother not to dare watch it.

Shix was cast as a prostitute called Amina in Nairobi Half Life.

The role saw her undress in from of the camera.

“It was just fine. The only uncomfortable part is where I had to undress but I was like you know I want to do acting and this is acting, I have to do it,” Shix told Talk Central.

She defended the steamy scenes in the movie saying, "Hatuwezi sema si ni actors then tunanafanya vitu nusu-nusu, we have to go all the way, pole pole tu.”

Preparing for the role was emotionally taxing for Shix who said, "I had to be locked in a room and get into character to be able to nail it. What was going through my mind [before and during playing the rape scene] was that I'm doing this for those girls they have no one to talk to and they can be able to reach out and talk to someone about their ordeal."

Shix added that "I told my mum because she watched Shuga and she is like, 'Aaaih that is how you were dancing? That is acting?' I was like mum it’s just acting and she was like 'Aaaih hapana'. You know our mothers.”

Shix had to forewarn her mother that the scenes she had in Shuga are way more prudish in comparison to the character she plays in Nairobi Half Life.

“I was like Nairobi Half-Life is worse so I was like wachana nayo.”

The actress who tuned 30 years old this year advised upcoming actors. "You have to understand why you are acting and the roles you pick. Don't do it just for money. If you are in it for fame, I'm sorry you wont go far . Do it for the passion and be disciplined."
