and the media have been on a collision path for many months. This culminated with the shutting down of three media stations' signals. It was after Raila Odinga's inauguration that things have gone awry for the media.

The tension seems to have reached fever pitch with many in the media industry advocating for a stop to the onslaught by the interior ministry. This has also been followed up by Omkitah Omtata and he was able to get a court order that Communications Authority should switch on the stations.

He made the proclamation that the media should leave the venue because they had finished their work. Dennis Itumbi has clarified that the president wanted to speak to top security, that even the PSCU-Presidential Strategic Communications Unit.

But according to sources privy to how these events run when there is housekeeping or a closed-door event the Head of Protocol always alerts the media in advance.
