Gospels singer and pastor Ruth Matete opened up to Carole Mandi in a candid interview about her memories with late husband Beloved John Apewajoye.

Speaking about the last memories she has of the hubby, Ruth said,

“While we were going to the hospital in an ambulance, my husband just told me he was not coming back. He told me he was not going to make it and said to me I should put things in order and also told me what to tell the baby, his sister and the brother."

In the Youtube video, Ruth also talks about her suicide attempt and the status of her mental health that was fragile due to life, relationship drama and depression.

“I have gone to rehab, I got depressed, at that time, I was dating my late husband and it was just overwhelming, I decided I was done, I took like 40 or 45 pills, we had just argued, I was like this dating thing is actually not working. I just felt rejected I think that is something I really have to deal with in my life."

Adding,

"Not feeling loved and all kind of stuff and I would always fall back on my dad but he cannot be my boyfriend, my best friend and all these other relationships or friendships that I have. When you are depressed nothing makes sense, I didn’t know that I was going through depression for so long and because I wasn’t dealing with it just bottled up.”

She added after being found unresponsive in her home, her late husband took her to hospital,

“At that point, my late husband came and found me on the bed. He called my dad, I found myself in the hospital and when I opened my eyes he was praying and I told him this is not a matter of prayer, we need more help. It was crazy, I had prayed and fasted and waited on God, I was dealing with it the wrong way. I told him we had to look for another way."

Ruth continued,

"I remember when I went to see the psychiatrist, he told me I can’t go back home, if I go, they might not see me again. My boyfriend went home to pick up my stuff, I went to rehab for a month and I was on medication for a year, that’s why I added weight. It was crazy but I thank God I went, we dealt with every little thing that had affected me. I am happy now.”
