Anyway, the Bongo artist found himself on the wrong side of the law when he was allegedly apprehended attempting to smuggle heroine at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere international Airport in Dar. The artist whose government names are Rashid Makwiro is currently under arrest and is being held pending investigations.

When reached for a comment, the commandant of the Tanzanian equivalent of Nacada, the Kamanda wa Kuzuia na Kupambana na Madawa ya Kulevya Tanzania had this to say:

 “Ni kweli tumemkamanda Rashid Makwiro maarufu kwa jina la Chid Benz akiwa na kete kumi na nne za madawa ya kulevya aina ya heroine (14 satchets of herione) pamoja na misokoto miwili ya bangi.

Msanii huyo alikuwa njiani kuelekea mkoani Mbeya kwa ajili ya shughuli zake za kimuziki, na sasa amewekwa katika sehemu maalum ambayo hatuwezi kusema ni wapi, kwa sababu za kiusalama, uchunguzi wa tukio unaendelea.”
