Six Swedish tourists were among 22 people arrested and charged on Monday in Lamu law courts for violating laws. All were arrested on Saturday at the Floating Bar on Shella Island. They were charged with being drunk and disorderly and breaking the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by Inspector General David Kimaiyo.

The Swedish nationals pleaded for leniency, saying they were not aware the curfew was so serious and were ordered to pay Kshs.1,200 each. The curfew was imposed in July following the Mpeketoni attacks in mid June and is still on till 24th December.
