If you thought 2015 was the year of gospel artistes to thrive on controversy you were wrong; it was just the tip of the iceberg. 2016 is not yet over and the number of scandals in the gospel industry are uncountable. Well, award winning singer Alex Apoko commonly known as Ringtone seems to be the king of controversy, and so far this year, he is the only Kenyan gospel artiste who has made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Just recently, a Kenyan teenager, Angel Nyambura, came out to accuse Ringtone of neglecting his child who is 11 weeks old. According to Angel, she met Ringtone on Facebook back in 2014 and after meeting physically, they developed feelings for each other and started going out.

Late last year, she found out that she had conceived and upon telling the controversial singer, he tried to force her to terminate the pregnancy but she refused and opted to give birth to her adorable son who is a spitting image of Ringtone.

This month, Ringtone has been making headlines in the local dailies and blogs concerning this story. He has always denied that he fathered the young college IT student, claiming that she is just among the very many socialites who love publicity. A week ago, a local publication ran a story claiming that Angel's baby daddy was a makanga from Thika by the name Philip Mwaura and not Ringtone as she had earlier reported. In an interview with Mpasho, Angel denied knowing a man by the name Philip Mwaura saying that he is only using someone else to cover up his mistakes. The young mother is considering taking legal action against the said makanga who is "peddling lies". She also insists that she will pursue Ringtone for child support and if he wants to he can "conduct a DNA test on the child" to prove the child is his.

Well, this Ringtone's baby mama drama has become the topic of discussion on various social media platforms and local hype man, DNG seems to be tired of this scandal and calling out the two once upon lovers to sit down and settle their issues.
