Residents of Michatha Village in Nakuru County are in utter shock after a university student  committed suicide using a rope.

Simon Njunge, who was pursuing a degree in IT at Kenyatta University (KU), ended his life on Monday, December 19 and its still not known what drove him to such extreme lengths.

The incident was confirmed by Area Chief Jackson Njoroge who said the deceased accessed the house through a window before hanging himself.

Mr Njunge was described as a hardworking man by area residents who had changed a lot after quitting alcohol.

His body was taken to Molo Sub County Mortuary as his family makes plans to bury him.
