Prophetess Monicah has narrated how she was once slapped by a man after she turned down his advances.

Monicah had gotten married to her high school sweetheart but their marriage lasted only an year and a half, leaving her bitter.

Speaking during an interview with DJ Macdee, she shared,

'Men were my enemies. I remember a day a man looked at me and I told him 'aende akaangalie bibi yake'.

Even when one greeted me I would either keep quiet or I would ask them to keep the greetings for their wives.

There is also a time, a man slapped me after he greeted me and I told him 'akasalimie bibi.

He slapped me and asked me who I thought I was. He then told me 'enda ujifunze kuoga.'

I also responded and threw words at him. After that incident I realized that I needed help.  I sought the help of a counsellor.'

She added

'Later I came to understand that men are not bad.'

Her advice to Kenyans.

'Don't get into a marriage if you are not ready. You would rather get married in your thirties but get married to the right person.'
