Netizens have revived a picture of Mama Ngina Kenyatta blessing President William Ruto back when he was facing charges at the ICC.

The emotional picture was taken in 2011 when then Ruto and Uhuru were in a prayer rally ahead of the confirmation hearing at the Hague-based court.

Ruto and five others, including Kenyatta were preparing to leave Kenya for the Hague for their first trial of the 2007/2008 post elections violence. The beautiful moment in Gatundu left Kenyans emotional.

The former First Lady is now also going viral on social media after President William Ruto revoked her security detail. An officer aware of the development confirmed to the Star the withdrawal.

“We withdrew the guards from there for some debriefing but they will be back. She is entitled to security,” said one official who asked not to be named.

He did not explain the timing of their move and if it was political. The officer said the highest authorities were aware of the developments.

The officers were reportedly recalled at 5 pm on Tuesday. They were stationed at the Gatundu (Ichaweri) and Muthaiga homes.

Mama Ngina's security detail comprised officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) and Administrative Police (AP).

They were ordered to report to the nearest police station. Mama Ngina was reportedly not informed of the recalling beforehand.

Small-scale traders claim they will walk to Mama Ngina's Muthaiga home to petition her to speak to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and Azimio leader Raila Odinga to call off demos.
