An old video of president William Ruto detailing how he was turned down by a lady he was pursuing because he was broke back then has resurfaced on TikTok eliciting different reactions from netizens.

In the said video the now head of state was seen talking with creative director, producer and digital content creator Abel Mutua.

The two had a light moment as H.E Ruto recounted how his then crush had broken his heart.

The president recalled shooting his shot at the daughter of a driver who back then was considered a rich man but the girl wanted nothing to do with him as young Ruto was not well off back then.

"Tunataka kujua kuna dame umwewahi kujaribu kukatia mahali akakukataa, (we want to know, have you ever hit on  a girl then they turned you down)?" Abel Mutua asked as he burst out laughing.

Ruto joining in in the laughter asked Abel why he was putting him on the spot adding, 'sasa wewe unataka kuniweka kwa spot watu wanijue?"

But Abel with his usual charm was relentless, he pushed the head of state for an answer adding that now it seems that indeed there is a girl he'd like to know what the president would say to her if their paths ever crossed again.

"Kwanza wacha nikueleze, nilikuwa form 1 kuna dem baba yake alikuwa ni dereva na unajua kidogo walikuwa huko juu.

Sasa mimi kujaribu kumwahi pale, aaah vipi akanishangaa sana, alinionyesha dust. Niliskia vibaya sana joh. Wewe hufai bana,

(I was in form one and I had a crush on this lady whose dad was a driver, and you know at that time they were well off. I tried hitting on her but she turned me down, and told me I can't get her, I was very hurt)," H.E Ruto candidly told Abel recalling his earlier years.

The two went on to make fun of how the president back then,'hakuwa anatosha mboga' with the filmmaker turning the moment in light-hearted banter.

On what he'd tell the lady, President William Ruto revealed their paths had actually crossed after he'd completed his studies and started hustling here and there.

He went on to reveal that his then crush had ended up marrying and remaining in the village.

"Nishamkuta, lakini sio sasa lakini nyuma pale baada ya mimi kumaliza chuo. Kwa mbali aliolewa pale kwa village sasa ni mama wa kule tu village.

Na ananiheshimu kwamba huyu jamaa niliona kidogo amelega kumbe sasa ni jamaa wa nguvu," he casually bragged.

Abel burst out laughing and the president couldn't help but join in enjoying how he ended up better off and with an enviable future.

"Unafaa umtafute umbuiye kakuku alafu umpee lift kwa hii hustler slide hapa umwembaie haina worse," Abel advised.

"Safi safi nimekusikia," the president replied amidst bouts of laughter.
