'Ruto must go!' chants ring at Raila's protest rally

'Ruto must go' chants made a major part of Azimio leader Raila Odinga's stop in Imara Daima.

Shortly after his address alongside his co-principals, his supporters started chanting the words, as the Azimio convoy moved forward.

"Ruto must go, Ruto must go, Ruto must go," the supporters sang.

The Opposition planned to hold a mega rally at the Jacaranda grounds, which is currently cordoned off by a contingent of anti-riot police officers.

Thursday marks the Opposition's third anti-government protest in the country.

The first protest was held on March 20, 2023.

Raila was meant to lead protests in Nairobi's Central Business District but diverted to Mathare after police blocked all roads leading to the city center.

During Monday's demos, Raila was in Kawanagware and later terminated his journey in Kibra.

The protests have seen lives lost and property destroyed in various parts of the country.

Raila and his allies demand electoral reforms, lowering the cost of living and inclusion in the IEBC Commissioners' hiring process.

The former Prime Minister insists nothing will kill their resolve.
