Former Machakos first Lady Lillian Ng'ang'a has refuted claims of being a trophy girlfriend to former governor Alfred Mutua.
A Trophy wife/girlfriend means a woman who accompanies her partner to events to be shown off as she is beautiful.
In an interview with Nairobi News, Lilian says that she did a lot of things to change the community hence people should stop downplaying that.
“First reason was that I wanted to share the work I did as Machakos First Lady because I did do a lot but it was never publicized as much.
I gave years of my life to many different projects that changed and improved many lives and that should not be disregarded with the blanket of I was just a pretty companion that did not do anything in Machakos County,” said Lillian.
Lilian also said that in 2022 she wants to own her story by putting the record straight.
“Secondly is to own and tell my story, my way, and not let the media’s false stories remain as truths. This I had to do to avoid a 2013 repetition where I was branded a certain way and I kept quiet,” she added.
Alfred shared the news of his breakup with Lilian in a long social media post, in the post he thanked God for meeting the ex-first lady.
"There is a song by Roger Whittaker that has the line: “the first time we said hello, we started to say goodbye,”Lillian and I have been a blessing to each other.
"Two months ago, we decided to slowly disengage. We are on amicable terms and remain very close as friends. We will continue to talk, meet and share ideas constantly.
Lillian has been an excellent First Lady and even though she will do some projects under the Lillian Nganga foundation, we have agreed she can continue with her county projects."
