William Ruto, the President-elect is at this hour meeting the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

Ruto is accompanied by First Lady-elect Rachel Ruto. 

Reports indicated that the two leaders are making a personal hand over ahead of Ruto's inauguration on Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium.

The two leaders are expected to address the nation in a joint press conference.

Monday's meeting is seen as a ice-breaker session for ease of power handover during Ruto's swearing in ceremony as the country's fifth president.

The two leaders have had a frosty relationship for months since their fall out over succession politics.

The private meeting started moments after 3pm.
