Member of Parliament for Mumias East, Peter Salasya was on Monday grilled by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

This was after he surrendered to the Kakamega police station for questioning.

Salasya was interrogated for two hours before being released on a police bail of Ksh. 20,000 on December 4.

The lawmaker was wanted on suspicion of threatening to kill Kakamega Magistrate Gladys Kiama, with DCI detectives launching a manhunt in connection with the allegations.

The Magistrate, who presides over the Small Claims Court, filed a report at the station claiming that the Member of Parliament had threatened her life.

This was the result of her decision to compel Salasya to repay a debt of 50,000 Kenyan Shillings to businessman Robert Lutta.

The businessman had filed a case seeking repayment of a loan he claims he extended to the MP on December 13th of the previous year via a KCB bank account.

Several organisations, including the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) and the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), have condemned Salasya and urged the DCI to investigate the allegations expeditiously.
