Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga is said to have been taken in Kiambu town by unidentified individuals.
Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru said that on Saturday night, the man was kidnapped from his Kiambu home.
"My client Maina Njenga has been abducted by the DCI from his house in Kiambu....He has been taken to an undisclosed location," he posted on his X handle.
According to Njoroge Kamunya, Njenga's brother, the former Mungiki leader was removed from his car.
Police reportedly searched Maina Njenga's three properties in the counties of Nairobi, Nakuru, and Laikipia in May.
The former Mungiki leader is said to have been detained by police in lower Matasia, Ngong, in July and transferred to an undisclosed location. After being detained, Maina Njenga was later charged in Makadara courts.
He was accused of being discovered in possession of Maasai rungus, bows, and arrows, among other items.
According to the charge sheet, there is a reasonable assumption that the alleged offensive weapons were meant to be used in a way that would be detrimental to public order.
In addition, Maina Njenga was accused of planning an unauthorised assembly and getting ready to commit a crime.
But he refuted the allegations.
