Central Organization of Trade Unions Chairperson Rajabu Mwondi is dead.
He died while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital and had served as COTU's chairperson for over two decades.
COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has described Mwondi as a committed Chairperson, who advocated tirelessly for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the overall well-being of the Union members.
"His wisdom, compassion, and tireless efforts have transformed the lives of countless workers, elevating our organization to new heights. His leadership transcended the boundaries of time, leaving an indelible mark on COTU (K) history," Atwoli said.
"We will forever remember his tenacity in the face of challenges, his humility in the face of success, and his ability to unite us all under a common purpose."
Atwoli urged the members of the public to celebrate the legacy Mwondi has left behind.
"Let us continue to honour his memory by carrying forward the torch of his passion and dedication. The void left by his passing will undoubtedly be felt deeply, but we are fortified by the values he instilled in us and the example he set."
