Nimrod Mbai, the member of parliament for Kitui East, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a Kenya electricity employee who cut off his erroneous electricity connection.

He will be charged with assault in Kajiado.

An earlier demonstration over the MP's assault on their colleague was organised by a group of Kenya Power employees in Kitengela town.

This happened before the authorities could inform them that the MP had been arrested and transferred to a Kajiado court, the group demanded that something be done about the politician.
