Detectives are investigating an incident in which the body of a university student was found lying in his room in an apartment in Kakamega.

The body of Erick Siku Mambole, 21, a student at Masinde Muliro University was found in his room on June 18 at about 8 pm after he had failed to wake up for three days.

A landlord at the apartment told police he was concerned he had not seen the student for three days.

He called the police to check on him.

Police officers proceeded to the scene, where they found the door closed from inside and broke in.

The officers found the body with foam oozing from the deceased’s mouth lying on the bed.

Police say the body did not have any visible injuries at the time it was picked up at the mortuary pending autopsy.

A team of detectives is investigating the death.

Elsewhere in Naivasha, the body of a 40-year-old man was found on a fence after suspected electrocution.

Police identified the victim as Stanley Kirwaia and suspect he accidentally fell on the electric fence that killed him.

The body was moved to the mortuary.

Meanwhile, suspected thugs shot a bodaboda rider in an attack in Kayole, Nairobi. This is as they escaped from the police.

Police officers from Karagita police post who were on patrol said they spotted a motorcycle with a rider and one pillion passenger which passed them at a higher speed on June 19 night.

This prompted the officers to give it a chase and on reaching Last Man Apartment, the pillion passenger drew a pistol and fired at one bodaboda rider namely Dontas Mwangi who was injured on the buttocks before they sped off towards Eastern Bypass.

Mwangi was among riders who had joined police in hunting the suspects when he was shot and injured, police said.

The victim was rushed to Bristol Park Hospital and he is in stable condition.

The hunt on the gang is ongoing, police said.
