Eldai MP Maryanne Keitany has said President William Ruto is the savior the country needs in the fight against corruption. Keitany was speaking on Wednesday during an interview with the K24.
She said a scandal has happened in Ruto's administration and he has not waited for the media to call him out on it, but rather, acted immediately.
"Ruto is leading from the front. And that is why I have said unlike all other previous regimes, I think this is the savior for our country because he has decided to lead from the front, take action, and actually show that he is not going to condone any form of corruption," Keitany said.
She was reminiscent that the day before Ruto made changes in the Ministry of Health following a corruption scandal at Kemsa, he had said his actions will speak louder than words in terms of corruption.
"And that is what we are seeing, he has not spoken but he has acted. He has said let everybody take responsibility for their actions," she said.
Keitany said Ruto's actions have also sent a clear message to the rest of the government that he will not condone corruption in his administration.
On Monday, the Head of State moved to suspend Kemsa CEO Terry Ramadhani while Health Principle Secretary Josephine Mburu was sacked.
The entire Kemsa board was also disbanded
Kemsa has continued to make headlines over corruption and mismanagement.
The most recent Sh3.7 billion mosquito net deal was marred with allegations of irregularities in the tendering process.
The Global Fund had given Kemsa the deal which could see it earn Sh370 million in revenue through warehousing and transport logistics.
It however cancelled it citing irregularities in the procurement process.
The procurement process initiated by Kemsa saw the tender awarded to Shobikaa Impex and Partec East Africa Ltd.
Upon scrutiny, however, Shobikaa Impex did not reflect on the database of the Registrar of Companies.
