President William Ruto on Monday dismissed the entire Kenya Medical Supplies Authority board. This was after the board made the headlines over accusations of corruption and mismanagement.

The dismissal followed the cancellation of the Sh3.7 billion mosquito net tender by the Global Fund. The Fund cited irregularities in the tender procurement.

The Global Fund had floated the tender that could have also seen the Kemsa rake in Sh370 million in revenue through warehousing and transport logistics.

Global Fund's audit raised an issue with Kemsa's technical evaluation committee report, citing multiple procurement gaps.

In its audit, the Global Fund said the companies did not meet mandatory requirements, adding that they should not have proceeded to the post-qualification phase.

President after dismissing the entire board and senior staff at Kemsa, he went on to appoint Irungu Nyakera as the new chairperson.

Health CS Susan Wafula has also gazetted the appointment of four new board members, including Hezbon Oyieko Omollo, Bernard Kipkirui Bett, Jane Masiga and Jane Nyagaturi Mbatia.

Following the changes, here is what Kenyans have had to say about the President's move.

(((Akseli)))@Raiyamwema· We are slowly losing international credibility with these constant corruption scandals at KEMSA. From ARVs to Covid prevention stuffs and now mosquito nets and this is not good for our country. Seems like people are hysterically on the lookout for what they can steal.

1litre-mwas@BhagavanDas10· How will he untangle the mess in KEMSA when he is neck deep in Samara issues. There's a speck in his eye before the log in KEMSA.

Dr. Ekuru Aukot@EAukot·Way to go. Theft of public resources must be punished severely. But don't stop there, Mr. President @WilliamsRuto. Prosecute them, they return the money and then send them to rot in jail.

Ahmednasir Abdullahi SC Resolutely dealing with miscreants who think KEMSA is the place to EAT...H. E @WilliamsRuto put on notice all in his government who think STEALING from the public is OK.

I.am.Morgan@cptMorgan First wrath of president Ruto falls on KEMSA,board disband and fires the rest. Very nice

Academic Rigour Mortis @kinjeketile and @AndrewMusembi8Wasting time and resources without prosecuting KEMSA.
