Lands Chief Administrative Secretary Kimani Ngunjiri was Monday disarmed after he shot and injured one man in a dramatic incident in Nakuru.

This was as he confronted a group of about 100 people on a disputed piece of land.

Rift Valley head of DCI Francis Wanjau confirmed they confiscated a Ceska pistol from Ngunjiri following the morning drama.

“The matter is pending under probe after one person was injured. We have confiscated the pistol for now,” Wanjau said.

He said preliminary findings had shown the incident happened after a group stormed a disputed farm with some driving a tractor and destroyed a fence belonging to a lady.

The lady raised an alarm and when residents responded, Ngunjiri himself started shooting.

He shot someone as he tried to invade contested land. Ngunjiri told police he shot in self-defence.

He added he went to his land and was attacked by 100 people who were there, he fired in defence and one person was slightly injured.

“He was not injured but he shot and injured someone,” police said.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

Ngunjiri is a licensed gun holder.
