The United States Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control has not imposed visa restrictions on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Dismissing reports saying otherwise, the US Embassy in Kenya also said there was no revocation of visas belonging to Trade CS Moses Kuria, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw'ah, and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.

An online report alleged that the OFAC had revoked visas belonging to the politicians and their families.

It further claimed that the four had planned and sponsored violence on Monday, March 27, to undermine democracy and limit freedom of speech and press.

"These visa revocations demonstrate that the United States will promote accountability not only for regime leaders but also for officials who enable the regime's assaults on democracy and human rights," the fake report reads in part.

Speaking to the media U.S. Embassy Nairobi Spokesman Andrew Veveiros however dismissed the report.

"I can confirm that the report doing rounds is fake as there has been no such communication from the United States Government," he said.

Further, the Embassy took to its official Twitter page flagging the report as fake.

"This is FAKE!" it tweeted.
