Inspector General of police Japhet Koome has banned the planned countrywide protests by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition.

Addressing the media on Sunday in Nairobi, the IG said no one will be allowed to hold demos next week.

Koome asked Kenyans to come to work as usual and conduct their daily commitments as he pledged more security officers will be deployed.

“There will be more personnel all over the county to ensure safety for all. We will not be intimidated by anyone,” he said.

The IG further stated that the issues being raised by politicians are political and should be addressed politically.

“We don’t know where this server they are talking about is located. We ask them to address them politically," Koome added.

The Raila-led coalition will be holding its dawn-to-dusk protests in Nairobi and other parts of the country on Monday, March 27, at a time when President William Ruto will be in Berlin.

Ruto has insisted that anyone who will attempt to disrupt business will be dealt with accordingly.

He said that no one was above the law when it comes to the destruction of properties.

The President emphasized that there was no reason whatsoever for anyone to stand in the way of free enterprise, disrupt business or sabotage economic activity for personal interest.

However, Opposition leader Raila Odinga has maintained that next week's demos will be held within the law.

He said that the Azimio La Umoja coalition respects the law and will remain peaceful.
