Hellen Avunga, who succumbed to food poisoning at Royal Media Services offices was finally laid to rest.

Eulogizing his mum, Brighton Iyangala, who will be in Form 2 this year confessed that he will dearly miss her.

"Mum, I will never forget how you always loved me. Your pieces of advice and correction when I am wrong made me who I am today," he said amid tears.

The dedicated worker died while several other staff members were hospitalized after suffering food poisoning.

A source who spoke to the Star after the incident said that at least five employees were hospitalized over the foodborne illness.

The employees working on the Christmas shift developed stomach complications after consuming food delivered to the office.

A catering company had been supplying food to the staff at the media firm since Christmas Day.

The catering company is said to have supplied food to employees including on Tuesday.

A senior reporter was among those admitted to the hospital. Many of those who took the meals complained of stomach upset.

"I took the meal on Christmas Day and I experienced a stomachache. Mine was not severe," an employee who sought anonymity told the Star.

The company is said to be in crisis mode and the management is reaching out to each and every employee who was on the Christmas shift to confirm their health status.

Those contacted by senior management were instructed to visit nearby health facilities for medical checks.

Most of those with severe conditions are said to have consumed the food for most of the days it was supplied.

Royal media services management has vowed to help Hellen's son continue with his education.
