Citizen TV's Swahili News Anchor Swaleh Mdoe has allayed any fears over his health after suffering from poisoning.

On boxing day, several Royal Media Services (RMS) staff complained of severe stomach pain after the team working the Christmas shift ate food from outside catering.

He took to Twitter to assure everyone that he is in good health after the unfortunate incident.

"Let me take this opportunity to thank all my friends, relatives and fans who called me to find out about my condition following the food poisoning incident at my workplace," he said.

"I am ok," he assured.

RMS Group Managing Director Wachira Waruru released a press statement on Tuesday confirming the food poisoning incident.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened to inform the public that one staff member has unfortunately succumbed to the illness attributed to the suspected food poisoning," he said.

Waruru said that several staffers were still hospitalised after the incident.

Mdoe sent his condolences to the deceased colleague and quick recovery to the others who are hospitalised.
