Doctor Daniel Kiage of Kisii Eye Hospital has said Baby Sagini will not see again following an attack that left his eyes gouged by unknown thugs.
"Both of his eyes were completely removed, there is nothing under the sun nor technology in the world that can make Baby Sagini see again," he said.
However, Kiage said Sagini is very healthy and was talking and walking around the hospital. He noted that the baby would be discharged soon.
"We have been able to control infections and ensure he is fine. There are issues at home that should be sorted out. We need to know where he can be rescued, issues of mental health, and where he will stay after he will be discharged," he said.
The three-year-old was in the company of other children when he went missing, only to be found with his eyes gouged out and writhing in pain.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati termed the attack as appalling and despicable.
"It is unfortunate that such a small boy could be brutalised like this. It points to the growing mental problems society is grappling with, which should form part of the wider investigations," he said.
