At least three persons were killed on Sunday at the Kamakis section of the Eastern Bypass when a private car rammed a tuk tuk, causing it to crash into a matatu.

Police said three other passengers were injured and taken to hospital in the 7am incident.

The driver of the affected car looked confused after the accident before police arrived and took him to custody and later to the hospital for checks.

Witnesses said he was speeding at the time of the accident before he lost control of the car and rammed into a tuk-tuk ahead of him pushing it onto another public service vehicle that was also ahead of them.

The tuk-tuk crushed into the matatu’s rear side injuring passengers who were there.

The rider of the tuk-tuk was also trapped therein.

The spending car rolled a few meters ahead and overturned before the driver walked out with slight injuries.

Photos taken at the scene showed the horrible incident and onlookers unable to remove one of the bodies still trapped therein.

Police said among those killed was an 11-year-old child.

Police believe the car was speeding at the time of the incident.

The officers who attended the scene said they fear the number of dead may increase.

The injured were admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries.
