Ruto arrived at Kasarani stadium accompanied by his wife and incoming first lady Mama Rachel Ruto.

Upon his arrival, Ruto used the opportunity to greet several Heads of State present at the Stadium before taking his seat.

On the other hand, Rigathi Gachagua arrived at the inauguration venue together with his wife Dorcas Rigathi.

Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta made his way to Kasarani Stadium at around 12:10 pm. He was aboard his official Presidential car, waving at Kenyans who had turned out in large numbers to grace the occasion.

President Ruto promised to "defend and uphold the sovereignty, integrity, and dignity of the people of Kenya."

"I do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Kenya," Ruto said.

Rigathi Gachagua also took the oath of office as Deputy President.

"I will always truly and diligently serve the people and the Republic of Kenya in the office of the deputy president. I will do justice to all without fear, favour, affection and ill will," he said.

He vowed to obey and protect the constitution as by Law established.
