The bizarre story of brutal murder of a Kiambu family has left many shocked. A 22-year old university student, Lawrence Warunge brutally murdered his family, father, mother, brother, cousin and farmhand at their Kiambaa home in Kiambu County.

Lawrence, who confessed to killing his family, narrated to DCI how he carried out the gruesome acts, revealing that he killed his father like a snake. He stabbed him 34 times.

'HE SAYS THE FATHER WAS HIT BY AN ELECTRIC CABLE AS HE RAN AWAY AND JUMPED OFF THE BALCONY AND WAS INDISPOSED FURTHER AFTER HE FRACTURED A LEG. THIS GAVE HIM TIME TO CATCH UP WITH HIM AND KILL HIM LIKE A SNAKE,' an officer investigating the case told the media.

After killing them, Lawrence travelled to his girlfriend's place in Mai Mahiu, where he burnt some items and phones used in the gruesome killings and dumped others in a pit latrine. All the items were discovered by the police.

On Monday, Lawrence Njoroge Warunge and his girlfriend Sarah Muthoni were arraigned in a Kiambu court before Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi.

She granted police 14 days to detain the two suspects to conclude investigations into the murder of the five people. Lawrence is being detained at Gigiri police station while Muthoni is being held at Muthaiga police station. The case will be mentioned on January 25, 2021.
