He will be laid to rest today in his Gatanga home in Muranga County.

Paying tribute to the fallen here, his two wives wrote moving tributes that will bring tears to your eyes.

Indeed, those we love don’t ever die they live forever in God’s Hands and our hearts.

His first wife, Sarafina Wairimu John wrote, "I don’t have to explain how John was to anyone in this room. Everyone knows he was a great man and a phenomenon musician. It only took meeting him once to remember him forever. He is and always will be my best friend and there will continually be a hole in my heart that will never heal. John was my soul-mate. Plain and simple."

Adding, "All it took was one look and I knew he was the man I was meant to spend the rest of my life with. He didn’t get the rest of my life, but I got the whole of his. Our time together may have been cut short, but the happiness we shared together, will last a lifetime. I will mourn the loss of my husband, my best friend, my soul-mate, my everything. But, I will find comfort in the knowledge that he loves me to the very end.

Sarafina revealed one of the last messages she got from her late hubby.

"John always said, “God has a plan. We have to accept it and go with it.” We don’t know what God’s plan is, but it’s something special and that’s why He needed the heart that’s as big as the world and open to everyone.

She continued, "I will miss John until the day God calls me home and so will our children. But we will never feel alone because John has left behind a love that cannot be broken. Until we are together again, I’m not complete. I’m merely here, waiting for my turn. Thank you for helping me find love Forever. You have left me a piece of you in our children."

Sarafina signed off with, "To the greatest husband & most wonderful friend."

John DeMathew's second wife, and Caroline Waithira also paid her tributes.

She wrote, "I had the opportunity and rare privilege of being the wife and partner of the wonderful, loving, kind and God-fearing man. Life could not have been better than that because I was living every woman’s dreams. The best of everything was at my disposal whether I asked for it or not."

Caroline revealed, "We had our problems like every family but making up and resolving our issues was magical. I was blessed with the best husband and father to my children and his name was John Ng’ang’a Mwangi AKA John DeMathew."

"John’s ability to make everyone feel comfortable, secure and loved were his greatest strengths. He was a man of the people. For all the time we have been together, I look back over those joyful moments with so much happiness. He was my soul mate and my inspiration – my steadfast rock that helped me through thick and thin. John supported and loved us all, and was always there to help navigate through life’s challenges."

She finished off the tribute saying, "John may be in heaven now, but I know he is looking down at us with a big smile on his face saying, “Forge ahead – make the best of life – and I’ll see you soon." I love you. Always & Forever. Goodbye, My Dear, Sweet Husband."
