Brenda Wairimu, Ephy Saint and Fidel Maithya are a match made in heaven…or lies in Monica, the Kenyan drama series that follows Brenda in the titular role as the girl from the ghetto scheming her way to the top.

While chasing her dreams of becoming one of the elites, Monica finds herself caught in a love triangle between her childhood love Mariga (Ephy Saint, Tahidi High) and the governor’s son Bob Jiwe (Fidel Maithya, Selina).

With the brand new Monica S3 now streaming on Showmax, we caught up with the three actors to find out what they think about the love triangle, who has the upper hand, working together and nurturing their onscreen chemistry.

“It’s interesting to see it happening on the flipside of it, having two men with one woman at the pinnacle of this triangle. I like the dynamics that it brings to the screen. I like the highs and the lows and all the intense moments that come with it, and I just think it makes for a nice story,” Brenda says.

Ephy says their story is relatable to a lot of people because for once, “the man is not the one responsible for hurting others.”

On working with Brenda, Fidel admits that he was a bit intimidated by her during their first time on set when they were shooting the pilot.

“Once you get to know her, she’s easy-going and down to earth. She knows her craft and she is focused so it makes it easier for the rest of us.”

For Ephy, his scenes with Brenda are easier than with anyone else because she helps bring Mariga out of him.

Praising her two co-stars, Brenda says it’s a nice thing to see both Fidel and Ephy grow into their respective characters.

“When I’m with Fidel as Bob, I feel like I’m actually with a governor’s son. And when I’m with Mariga, I actually feel like I’m with my childhood love.”

But what fans really want to know is, who does Monica end up with in the end?

“I’ll be the last man standing because at the end of the day, I have to come first. I can’t be pining over these two,” Brenda says.
