Readers no longer have to go to the main website to access the best entertainment news about their favourite celebrities but can easily do it from the comfort of their smartphones.
The Meta-owned messaging platform in July 2023, launched channels that will enable users to receive updates from organisations they choose to follow within WhatsApp.

When a user joins the channel, a welcome message of, "This channel has added privacy for your profile and phone number, anyone can find this channel and see what's been shared."
Meta had announced that Kenya is among three African countries where the new feature had been rolled out.
Other countries with WhatsApp channels are; Malaysia, Ukraine, Peru, Egypt, Morocco, Singapore, Colombia, and Chile.
For existing WhatsApp users to access new features, one has to update the application through the App Store or Play Store. The Channel updates will be stored on WhatsApp servers for 30 days.
