Celebrities always find themselves in the centre of national gossip when it comes to their private life.

One of the latest topics in Kenya has been about the cheap and available home-testing DNA kits.

Below is our list of famous people who have undertaken these tests to determine paternity.

1. Kabi WaJesus

He admitted to being the father of a seven-year-old girl following a DNA test whose results were positive.

Kabi told Kenyans in a statement that he indeed sired the little girl called Abby in 2013 and apologized for his January 2021 fight against the paternity claim.

“I wish to confirm that yesterday (Wednesday) paternity results were issued that confirmed that I am the biological father of the child. The results confirm that, in 2013 (which was before I got born again and married), I sired Abby. I know this news comes as a shock to many of you who follow and watch us. I also know that my public comments about this matter gave a false impression which I deeply regret,” stated Kabi.

“With the paternity results out, it is a relief as we can now chat the way forward together with the mother for the welfare of our child. I am immediately reaching out to her so that we can discuss and agree on her future,” shared Kabi.

2. Bahati

In 2018, the singer ordered for a test on his daughter. Bahati secretly carried out a DNA test on the baby without his wife’s knowledge.

The two were reported to have engaged in a fight after Diana found out Bahati hadn’t involved her in the paternity test.

"Ukiniangalia, angalia hizi genes. Hata mama yake haoni kitu hapa.Hatari mbaya...Ashaanza kushika face ya babake," Bahati told Amina Abdi on the Trend.

3. Prof Hamo

Jemutai and baby daddy Prof Hamo were involved in a public feud that was settled when Churchill intervened and asked the couple to take a DNA test to determine paternity. 

In 2021, "We met on Monday with Churchill and a few guys to try and sort out issues. We are still sorting out issues. At the meeting he agreed to pay for the school fees, so tulimeet on Wednesday as agreed and he gave me the school nkalipa jana… the DNA will be out in 2 weeks. We did the DNA on Tuesday at KEMRI,” Jemutai wrote.

She added, “DNA results are out 99.9%.”

4. Ken Okoth

DNA results showed that Ken Okoth, the late Kibra MP was the biological father of a son to nominated MCA Ann Thumbi.

There had been a dispute three years ago after the demise of the MP and Thumbi filed an application to have the boy recognised as Okoth’s son before his father was interred.

6. Diamond Platnumz

The singer has always had DNA tests done on all his children. However one remains a thorn in his flesh. The son he has with Hamisa Mobetto. 

Even in 2022, he questioned the paternity results and the denial of Dylan leaving a sour taste in the mouths of netizens.

Mobetto has also blamed Diamond for not protecting his children from social media trolls as other public figures do.

She added that he forgets the children are going to grow and find out he denied them.

Jay-Z

A few years ago, Jay-Z came into the limelight after a young man named Rymir Satterthwaite claimed he was Jay-Z's illegitimate son.

However, the rapper consistently denied Rymir’s claims, and it became a prolonged paternity suit. To date, Jay Z has refused to take the paternity test, and the case is being settled outside of court.

The young man said that he wouldn’t give up until Jay Z takes a paternity test and tells the world the truth.

The case was pushed back into the court and went into trial in Philadelphia only recently. But Rymir may not be Jay-Z's only love child.

There have been rumours that the rapper also has a secret daughter who lives in a house he bought for her in Maryland.
